Jennifer F.

In 2006, Jennifer met Jameel when she was a freshman at Towson University. Jameel was a member of the National Guard. Their connection was instant; they felt like they’d known each other for years. The couple married in 2007, weeks before Jameel was deployed to Iraq. When he returned, he decided to enlist in the Army and make a career of it. He planned to attend Army Ranger School, become a drill instructor, and eventually reach the rank of First Sergeant. He and Jennifer dreamed of seeing the world through his service.
In March 2011, Jameel deployed again, this time to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. On August 11 of that year, in Kandahar province, he was killed while on a mission when an IED detonated near his vehicle. He was 26 years old. Jennifer was left to navigate life as a Gold Star widow and single mother of two.
Today, Jennifer lives in a home that the Tunnels to Towers Foundation purchased for her in 2022 to honor Jameel’s service and his family’s sacrifice. Jennifer learned about Reinforcements Inc through Maryland Gold Star Mothers. We will be completing her home inspection soon, and look forward to making repairs to her home.
