James D.

In 1964, James enlisted in the Navy as a medical corpsman. As the Vietnam War expanded, the Navy reassigned him to the Marines. He served one deployment to Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. Stationed near Saigon, he saw “regular but short bursts” of combat. Following his tour, James was stationed on Guam and at the Great Lakes Naval Station, where he earned certifications as a medical researcher. In 1975, after “eleven years, nine months, and 23 days,” James left the service. He often jokes he is likely the only person in Navy history who never once stepped on a boat.
After the military, he worked as a medical researcher, trucker, and nurse before health issues led to his retirement in 2000 and a VA disability classification in 2007. James shared a home with his wife,Helen, from 2014 until her passing in 2025. Now living alone, he connected with Reinforcements Inc through a friend who is a client. While we have not completed his home inspection yet, we expect to make repairs to his HVAC system, gutters, stormwater runoff system and exterior siding and doors.
