Linda D.

Linda met her future husband, Tom, in high school. They married in 1960. Their first son, Steven, was born in 1971, and their second son, Doug, was on the way. But as the Vietnam War intensified, Tom realized he would likely be drafted, so he decided to enlist in the Army. Shortly after enlisting, he was deployed to Vietnam, where he served as an aerial reconnaissance photographer with the 101st Military Intelligence Company, 101st Airborne Division.
Linda’s life took a sudden turn when, on August 10, 1971, Tom’s reconnaissance aircraft crashed in enemy territory. The Army could not recover his body or the body of the pilot. Tom was listed as missing in action until 1978, when his status was changed to killed in action. Like so many Gold Star wives, she found a way to persevere and raised her sons on her own. She retired in 2017 and lives near her sons.
Linda learned about Reinforcements Inc through her association with Maryland Gold Star Mothers. We recently finished her home inspection and look forward to many home repairs.
